My iPhone camera freezes
Quick fixes (2–3 minutes)
Restart your iPhone first — this clears most camera glitches
Close the Camera app: swipe up and flick it away, then reopen it
Test the camera in another app (Instagram, WhatsApp, etc.) — if it works there, the issue is the Camera app itself, not the hardware
Check your storage: if your iPhone is very low on space, the camera will misbehave
Update iOS: Settings → General → Software Update
If it keeps happening
Back up your iPhone, then try Reset All Settings (Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPhone → Reset → Reset All Settings). This won't delete your photos, but it does reset Wi-Fi passwords, notifications, Face ID, and display settings — which can clear deeper camera conflicts.

My camera is shaking or jittering
This is usually linked to the optical image stabiliser inside the camera module.
Quick checks
Restart your iPhone first
Remove your case and try again — some cases press on the camera module and interfere with stabilisation
Remove any lens protector — cheap third-party protectors can cause vibration and focus problems
Move away from strong third-party magnets — certain magnetic car mounts or wallets with very powerful magnets can affect stabilisation on some models
Test different lenses (0.5x, 1x, 2x) — if only one lens jitters, that points to that specific camera module

The shaking happens across multiple lenses, in multiple apps, after a restart
The viewfinder shakes noticeably even when the phone is held still

My camera won't focus
Quick fixes
Restart your iPhone first
Clean the lens with a soft microfibre cloth — fingerprints are the most common cause of poor focus
Tap the screen to set your focus point; hold to lock it if you need it to stay
Step back slightly if you're shooting very close up — iPhone 13 Pro and later models automatically switch to the ultra-wide (macro) camera for very close subjects, which can cause the camera to hunt for focus if you're at the edge of that range
Switch lenses (1x vs 2x) to check if it's one camera or all of them
Remove any third-party lens protector
If focus is still struggling
Restart the phone and test again in good light. If it only fails in low light, that's often normal — the camera needs contrast to lock focus. If it fails in reasonable light across multiple lenses, it's likely hardware.

The camera visibly hunts back and forth without locking

There's a dot on my photos
Most of the time this is dirt, a smudge, or something on the lens.
Quick checks
Restart your iPhone first
Wipe the lens with a microfibre cloth using gentle circular motions
Check for a lens protector, cracked camera glass, or a case that partially covers the lens — all of these commonly cause dots or haze
Test front vs rear camera:
Dot only on rear photos → rear lens or glass
Dot only on selfies → check the front camera area at the top of the screen for smudges

The dot stays in exactly the same spot across every photo after cleaning
The dot is visible on the viewfinder before you've taken the shot
A fixed-position dot that persists after cleaning usually points to dust inside the camera module. That needs proper testing — don't try to open the phone yourself, as this voids your warranty. Our technicians can do rear camera module replacements in-house using original components.

Face ID isn't working
Face ID uses a TrueDepth sensor system at the top of the screen — it's separate from the main cameras but sits in the same area.
Quick checks
Restart your iPhone first
Clean the top of the screen — the Face ID sensors sit there and a smudge or screen protector residue can block them
Remove your screen protector, or confirm it's a well-fitted, compatible one — a poorly fitted protector is one of the most common Face ID culprits
Check Settings → Face ID & Passcode:
Confirm Face ID is enabled for what you're trying to use it for
Try Set Up Face ID Again — resetting can resolve recognition drift, particularly if your appearance has changed
Update iOS: Settings → General → Software Update

You see "Face ID is not available" or "Face ID has been disabled"
Face ID fails to set up or consistently fails after a restart and screen clean
