Why sell my PS4?

Because even with the recent release of the Playstation 5, your PS4 is still in high demand. With its Single-chip Custom Processor that provides crystal clear gaming and rumble-shock controller that takes you to the heart of the action, the Playstation 4 is still a very popular games console.

It's also more affordable than the newer PS5, making it the perfect console to keep you gaming at an unbeatable price!

And there's also plenty of games still available for the PS4. Even better, because the next generation PS5 is now available, these games are very affordable too!

How much is my PS4 worth?

At The Big Phone Store, we keep things nice and simple when it comes to valuing your Playstation 4 and only ever consider its 'condition' and 'internal storage'.

With 'condition', we've split our criteria into just four categories: New, Good, Poor and Broken. You can find comprehensive details above and there's also further information in our Terms and Conditions.

And when it comes to 'internal storage', we accept the Playstation 4 500GB, 1TB and 2TB. Higher 'storage' tends to mean a higher cash value!

How do I get cash for my PS4?

It's really easy to sell your PS4 to The Big Phone Store. Here's how our hassle-free trade-in process works:

  1. Get your valuation. Use our valuation calculator above and get an instant quotation for your PS4. Just select the 'condition' and 'storage' of the console(s) you want to sell.

  2. Place your order. Once you've received your valuation, simply choose a designated bank account for the cash transfer and provide us with only the personal details necessary to process your order.

  3. Send us your PS4. Within 24 hours of your order being placed, we'll send a Welcome Pack. It'll contain all the information and instructions you need to send us your Playstation 4.

  4. We check your order. As soon as your package arrives, we'll send an email. We then inspect your order and check the 'condition' and 'storage' of the PS4.

  5. You get paid! With our same-day payment service, we guarantee to pay out for your PS4 the same day your order has been checked and confirmed!

Can I get cash for my Playstation 4 if it's damaged?

You can! At The Big Phone Store, we do accept 'broken' or damaged PS4 consoles - but unfortunately, not all consoles can be traded-in for cash.

To qualify for a cash payment, your Playstation 4 must meet our criteria for a 'broken' console. Here are some of the key things to look for:

  • Console may have faults, be damaged or not work correctly.

  • Console must not be bent, crushed, or in pieces.

  • Console must have no internal missing parts.

  • Console must not have been reported lost or stolen. It must also be free of any outstanding finance.

  • Console must have no missing parts.

  • Console must have no etching or personalisation.

  • You must have removed any attached accounts from the console or anything else that limits usage.

Factory Reset

Before selling your Playstation 4, you'll need to complete a Factory Reset. This both returns your console to its Factory State and wipes any personal data.

The process is in two-parts and can take several hours to complete. Here's our handy guide:

Deactivate your PSN Account

  1. On the Home Screen, press 'Up' on your PS4 controller. This takes you to the Main Menu.

  2. Then press the 'Right' button until you reach the 'Settings' option. Select it by pressing 'X' on your controller.

  3. After this, scroll the menu until you find the 'PlayStation Network / Account Management' tab. Select it by pressing 'X'.

  4. Find and select the 'Activate as Your Primary PS4' tab.

  5. To disable your PSN account, select the 'Deactivate' option with the 'X' button. Please note: If your PSN account is already 'inactive', the 'Deactivate' option will be inaccessible.

  6. When prompted, select 'Yes' to confirm deactivation (with the 'X' button).

  7. Your console will tell you when the process ends. As soon as it does, select 'OK' to confirm.

Data Wipe

The data wipe is the most important part of the Factory Reset process. It ensures that any future user has no access to your account details or personal data.

Please note: When selling your console, we strongly recommend you complete the 'Full' data reset. This will guarantee that no future user can access your personal data.

  1. Log in to your user account.

  2. Press the 'Up' button on your controller on the Main screen and scroll the right until you find the 'Settings' icon. Use the 'X' button to select it.

  3. In the 'Settings' menu, scroll down until you find the 'Initialization' tab. Again, use the 'X' button to select.

  4. Then select the 'Initialize PS4' option.

  5. At this point you are offered two options: 'Quick' and 'Full'. As above, we highly recommend the 'Full' data reset. This takes much longer to complete, but it ensures that any wiped data can never be restored.

  6. After this, select the 'Initialize' option (it should be at the bottom of the screen).

  7. When prompted, select 'Yes' to confirm.

A 'full' data wipe can take several hours and your PS4 may restart several times during this process. When complete, the screen will display a prompt to connect your controller to the console via a USB cable.
